Mackinac Island

The day before camp began, we traveled just a smidge further north and spent one night at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. We were there for less than 24 hours, but it is one of my most special and memorable vacations. I hadn't been to Mackinac in a long time and had forgotten how quant and quiet and sunny and breezy the island is. We love love loved the Grand Hotel. The building and grounds are decorated and maintained so beautifully - like breathtakingly beautiful. The whole experience is fancy pants for sure...the words chintz and preppy are understatements - with ornately seated meals and evening dress codes and fantastic activities for the whole family. We rode bikes around the island on Saturday and ran into Uncle Dave, Aunt Molly and Jane who were also touring the island before camp. Maybe this can be an annual before camp destination?
