Happy Halloween

Eloise as Madeline

We've had an entire week of Halloween celebrations. It all started last Saturday with a human and dog costume contest on Armitage. Eloise loved the magician show and trick-or-treating in all of the stores. You simply say "Trick-or-Treat" and they give you candy...fantastic! Maize rather enjoyed the bobbing for hot dogs contest. Too bad she lost to a darn chihuahua. Embarrassing.

On Wednesday, Eloise's Wiggleworms class celebrated Halloween. The kids wore their costumes to class and we sang a variety of spooky and candy themed songs. After lunch with her friends, Eloise took a pony ride that she never wanted to end.

On Thursday night we celebrated a Bubbleween at Bubbles Academy. She LOVES her Bubbles friends and always looks forward to getting together with them. Andrew left work early to join us for the pizza and fun. Her closest friends costumes were all so great: a cowboy, Dorothy, an 80's Flashdancer, a lion, and a spider princess.

Finally...today really is Halloween! We trick-or-treated on our street with our neighbor and their 3 year old Princess. This is our first time trick-or-treating in our city and we were impressed. The best part about trick-or-treating in our ridiculous neighborhood is the candy...4 king sized candy bars. Score! Nat and Drew will be eating Halloween candy until Valentine's Day.

It's too bad that most people on the streets didn't understand our costumes. I think that they thought that I was simply overdressed and jeweled and that Andrew was...well...just look at him.

Carving pumpkins

We carved a pumpkin this week. Eloise loved scraping out the insides, seperating the seeds, and wielding the knife. We are looking forward to Halloween! Boo!

Birthday parties are fabulous, Darling!

Chicago Marathon cheering

We watched the Chicago Marathon a couple of weekends ago to cheer on some friends. Although Veronica wasn't running this race, Eloise kept vigorously shaking her cowbell and cheering "Go Ronica Go Ronica Go!"

Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch

We went on an adventure today to Jonamac's Apple Orchard in Malta, Illinois. We buy our apples from this orchard at the Lincoln Park Market on Saturday's, so we were excited to visit their farm. They had pick-your-own apples, a pumpkin patch, a store and restaurant with delicious apple donuts, carmel apples and hot cider, and a children's barn with a corn kernel silo, petting zoo, pony rides, a corn mazes, and so much more. We had a wonderful (although chilly, brrrrr) fall day!

there were goats, sheep, donkeys, ducks, a pig, chickens...

Ballet

Eloise started ballet classes last week. You would not believe how darling she looks in her leotard and tutu. And her tip toe and stretching skills are quite impressive. She totally gets it from me. :)
